The Boots Group Plc is one of the best known retail names in the UK, providing health and beauty products and advice to enhance well-being. As well as retailing, the company has international sales and marketing operations and also develops and manufactures their own products.
As part of their Group SAP Backbone project, Boots undertook a strategic initiative to consolidate their IT infrastructure to reduce overall operational costs. This included the rationalisation of their e-business processes, which necessitated the replacement of a number of different EDI systems across disparate hardware platforms.
Boots approached the marketplace with their requirements for a central B2B gateway for group companies. REIMS had already been successfully implemented at Boots Healthcare International as a SAP accredited technology solution so it was a natural upgrade to select SAA as the supplier for the Backbone project, to consolidate all systems and implement a standard group approach. REIMS delivers Boots with a solution that provides a transformation technology to support traditional B2B exchange as well as future B2B integration requirements, such as AS2.
